When Claudio Pizarro left FC Bayern at the end of August 2015 at the ripe age of 36, most people sensed that the playing career of the evergreen Peruvian was far from over yet. Just a week later, Pizarro signed for Werder Bremen - and he's still plying his trade in the Bundesliga as he celebrates his 40th birthday today. After a season at 1. FC Köln, he's back in the green and white of Werder.
192 goals in 450 Bundesliga appearances, and the records for the most appearances and most goals for a non-German player in the top flight: Claudio Pizarro is without doubt one of the most significant figures in Bundesliga history - and he's not done yet! The Peruvian had two spells at Bayern from 2001 to 2007 and from 2012 to 2015, scoring 87 goals in 224 league games. He was also part of the side that won the treble of the league, DFB Cup and Champions League in 2013. fcbayern.com would like to wish the birthday boy all the best!
