Pavel Královec will take charge of the Champions League match between FC Bayern and Ajax on Tuesday at 21.00 CEST, UEFA announced on Sunday. Hopefully it is not a bad omen for the German record champions. The 41-year-old Czech takes charge of a Champions League match involving Bayern for the third time, and they have lost the two previous matches with Královec on the pitch, a 3-2 reverse away to Manchester City in November 2014 and a 2-0 home defeat to Arsenal in March 2013.
Královec has overseen two Champions League matches involving Ajax, a 2-1 victory over FC Barcelona in November 2013 and a 4-1 defeat away to Real Madrid in December 2012.
Královec has been refereeing matches in Europe's premier club competition since 2011, but he was not in action on CL Matchday 1 this term. His assistents at the Allianz Arena will be Ivo Nadvornik, Kamil Hajek, Petr Ardeleanu and Karel Hrubes, with Jiří Moláček acting as fourth official.
