Alphonso Davies arrives in Munich

Servus, Alphonso! January signing Alphonso Davies was welcomed to his first training session at FC Bayern with warm applause from the assembled players on Wednesday. The winger got to know his new coach Niko Kovac as well as the majority of his teammates, with a few internationals still absent. The 18-year-old Canadian landed in the Bavarian state capital on Tuesday morning before completing various medical tests and getting a first impression of the training facilities at Säbener Straße later that day.

"Alphonso will train normally during the four weeks until the winter break and will have time to settle in here and in Munich," said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, welcoming the new arrival. "He'll be part of the squad and available to play from 4 January. We're excited about him. I'm sure he'll develop here at FC Bayern and help us. I wish him the best of luck and success."

"My first impressions of the training ground were great," commented Davies, who can't wait to get going. "As a kid I dreamed of being part of such a big club. Now I am and it's unbelievable. I'm very excited and looking forward to my time. I want to prove myself every day in training and work hard."
