Lewandowski honoured - Süle and Gnabry score in Germany win

Ahead of Poland’s friendly against the Czech Republic in Gdansk on Thursday, FCB striker Robert Lewandowski was honoured for his 100th international cap. Lewandowski had already reached that mark in October in the UEFA Nations League match against Portugal. The match against the Czechs was his 102nd for Poland, in which time Lewy has netted 55 times, but the hosts were beaten by a Jakub Jankto strike in the second half.

Germany beat Russia

On the other hand, Germany were untroubled in their 3-0 win over Russia in Leipzig. Leroy Sane put a side featuring four Bayern players (Manuel Neuer, Niklas Süle, Joshua Kimmich and Serge Gnabry) ahead early on before Süle scored his maiden international goal and then Gnabry wrapped up the friendly even prior to half-time. Thomas Müller and Leon Goretzka both came on for the second half, while Mats Hummels remained an unused sub.

Draw for Alaba

David Alaba, however, was competing for points in the Nations League when Austria took on Bosnia-Herzegovina in Group B3. The match in Vienna ended goalless, meaning Bosnia have won the section with 10 points ahead of Austria (4) and Northern Ireland (0), who play the group’s final match in Belfast on Sunday.
