Renato Sanches provided an assist as the Portuguese national team ended the Nations League group stage with a 1-1 draw against Poland. The 21-year-old set up the opening goal for André Silva with a corner in the 33rd minute in Guimaraes. The visitors equalised midway through the second half when Arkadiusz Milik converted a penalty conceded by Portugal defender Danilo, who saw red for the foul.
Poland, on the other hand, were missing their captain Robert Lewandowski, who travelled back to Munich early as a precaution because of slight knee problems. While Sanches and Portugal have qualified for the finals tournament as winners of Group A3, the Poles have been relegated to League B. However, the point did secure Jerzy Brzeczek's side a place in Pot 1 for the upcoming draw for EURO 2020 qualifying - at the expense of Germany, who will be in Pot 2.
