FC Bayern have confirmed they will be taking part in the Telekom Cup in Düsseldorf on 13 January 2019. Hosts Fortuna Düsseldorf, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hertha Berlin complete the line-up for the tenth edition of the now traditional friendly tournament. With FCB kicking off Bundesliga Matchday 18 just five days later against TSG Hoffenheim, the tournament will act as a final acid test ahead of the second half of the season.
Bayern will travel to the Merkur Spiel-Arena as the record and defending champions, having won the tournament for the fourth time in summer 2017 thanks to a 2-0 win over SV Werder Bremen in the final. Fans can look forward to more goals, great football and off-field activities again in January.
The format of the competition is designed to create an exciting and varied tournament. It consists of four matches: two semi-finals, a third-place match and the final. Games last 45 minutes and go straight to penalties in the event of a draw.
Ticket prices start from just €12.50, with the top category costing €40. Ticket sales start on 14 November. More information can be found at www.telekomcup.de.
