FC Bayern Munich’s team facilities at the Säbener Straße site are growing ever bigger. After around 16 months of building work a new office building has been completed. At the ceremonial launch on Monday morning chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was delighted to open “one of the most beautiful offices we’ve ever had at FC Bayern.” The complex houses a new staff canteen and provides extra space of 2400 square metres for 38 offices and 120 workstations. The new building will meet the needs of the growing number of employees at FC Bayern. “The club has exploded in the last ten years. We now have over 1000 employees, when you take all areas into account,” explained Rummenigge.
Professor for Fitness Dr. Holger Broich
Dr. Holger Broich has been head of the department for science, performance diagnostics and fitness at FC Bayern since 2014. His expertise has now been recognised at the highest level: he was appointed professor for performance diagnostics and training control at the MSH Medical School Hamburg – University of Applied Sciences and Medical University on 1 December 2018. In this position the 44-year-old will further develop among other things the department for performance, neuroscience, therapy and health in the area of competitive sport.
VAR to feature in the Champions League Last 16
Confirmed by the UEFA Executive committee during the session in Dublin on Monday, the video referee will be used from the last 16 round onwards in the Champions League. This innovation was originally intended for next season. As well as Champions League matches the video assistant referee (VAR) will be implemented in the Europa League final, the Nations League final, and the U21 European Championship final next year. The technological support is also planned to feature at the 2020 European Championships and from 2020/21 onwards in the Europa League group stage.
