Serge Gnabry's brace sealed a deserved 2-1 victory for Bayern away to Werder Bremen on Matchday 13, their first victory after three league matches without a win. "I'm overjoyed at my two goals of course, and that I helped my team win," said the match-winner. His coach was satisfied after a strong team display: "We dominanted the match technically, tactically but towards the end also in terms of fighting spirit," said Niko Kovac.
Reaction to Bremen v Bayern
Niko Kovac: "My team turned in an exceptionally good display. We dominanted the match technically, tactically but towards the end also in terms of fighting spirit. We did a really good job today. If there's something I find fault with, it's our conversion of chances. I counted six, seven more gilt-edged chances we should have converted into goals. But I liked it that way: without the ball we all defended together, with quick turnovers. You saw we had space and could make use of our quality up front. I'd like to congratulate my team on it."
Serge Gnabry: "This victory is a great relief, it creates a good atmosphere and boosts our confidence. We didn't allow many chances today. We ran down the clock towards the end. Of course we're aware of the situation in the table, so three points are always important. I'm overjoyed at my two goals of course, and that I helped my team win. We have a large squad, we need all our players. It's good the others are fit again."
Florian Kohfeldt (Werder Bremen coach): "We have to acknowledge Bayern worked very well as a team today. In this sense we lost to very good opponents. It was perhaps not the best moment to play against this top team."
Max Kruse (Werder Bremen): "We conceded the goals too easily again, we mustn't let that happen. If you concede goals so easily against Bayern you lose."
