Corentin Tolisso has taken another important step towards his comeback. On Sunday the French world champion was able to complete running exercises on the Alter G machine for the first time since his cruciate ligament tear in September's Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old is running on 70% of his body weight on the special treadmill in Doha. Tolisso is doing two rehab sessions a day with the FC Bayern fitness team, primarily concentrating on muscle development and stamina - and is building up to higher levels of intensity.
His coach Niko Kovac will give Tolisso the time required to fully recover. After a cruciate ligament tear, experience says that a player needs six or seven months to recover. As to a date for the midfielder's return we can expect "March at the earliest, so as not to apply unnecessary pressure," explained the 47-year-old on Saturday.
