Welcome back, Arjen Robben! At the open training session on Monday morning Niko Kovac only welcomed a small group of players onto the pitch. Among them, the 35-year-old Dutchman was a notable returnee: Together with those players who didn’t play or only made brief appearances in the 4-1 win against Stuttgart the day before, Robben took part in training for the first time since the thigh problem he suffered at the start of December.
With his pass play, finishing and flanking for teammates the winger proved he hasn’t lost any liveliness. This was enjoyable not only for the fans present but also for the teammates who played for longer on Sunday against Stuttgart. David Alaba and Co. ran laps round the pitch during the session and had time to observe Robben’s return to work.
