Heading to America! FC Bayern travel to the USA in July for the fourth Audi Summer Tour under the motto “Visiting Friends” as part of the 2019/2020 pre-season. The German record champions face top-quality opponents in three friendlies as part of the International Champions Cup (ICC). The opener in Los Angeles on 17 July 2019 is against Arsenal. That is followed on 20 July by a clash with Real Madrid in Houston. At the end of the tour the record German champions will play AC Milan in Kansas City on 23 July.
“The Audi Summer Tour is an important part of our international development strategy and supports our global marketing expansion,” said FC Bayern München AG Head of Internationalisation and Strategy Jörg Wacker. “We’ve seen great progress in the USA since opening our New York office in 2014. We now have roughly 32 million FC Bayern followers and more than 147 organised fan clubs there. The Audi Summer Tour will give our fans in the USA the chance to see our team in the flesh in their own backyard.”
“Audi is a long-term partner of FC Bayern. We are once again pleased to present the Audi Summer Tour in 2019," said AUDI AG Vice President Global Marketing and Sales Martin Sander. "The programme with high-class matches in one of our most important markets underlines the aim of our commitment to entertain and excite our customers and FC Bayern fans over the long term, and provide them with premium experiences at the highest level."
The fixtures were announced today at a press conference in New York, where World Cup winner and Germany’s most capped player Lothar Matthäus represented FC Bayern. The former club captain will accompany the team alongside other club legends on the tour in the summer.
The last time FC Bayern visited the United States was in July 2018, when FCB stopped over in Philadelphia and Miami. In 2016 the venues were Chicago, Charlotte and New York, following on from New York and Portland/Oregon in 2014. Furthermore, the German record champions' international activities are promoted by two offices abroad in the key markets of the USA (New York) and China (Shanghai). FC Bayern München now has over 650 million followers around the world.
