Gnabry commits to Bayern through 2023

Serge Gnabry has committed his long-term future to FC Bayern München. On Tuesday the 23-year-old Germany international, whose contract was due to expire on 30 June 2020, inked an extension keeping him at the club until 30 June 2023.

"We're pleased we've secured Serge's services over the long term. He's taken another big step forward in his first season here," said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic: "Serge is one of our young guns, and an important part of the FC Bayern of the future. We're convinced we'll continue to benefit from his ability a lot."

Gnabry said after the early contract extension: "I'm feeling very, very much at home here. It's great fun to play for this team. Of course I hope for many titles and great moments, and I'm looking forward to a good future with FC Bayern. In terms of football things are going very well for me at the moment, but I know I still have room for improvement, and that I'll have to continue to get better."

Gnabry, who has scored eight goals in 29 competitive appearances for FC Bayern so far this season, started his pro career at Arsenal in 2012, winning the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield in both 2014 and 2015. After spells at West Bromwich Albion, Werder Bremen and TSG Hoffenheim (on loan from FC Bayern in 2017/18), the 2016 Olympic silver medallist and 2017 European U-21 champion joined the German record champions at the beginning of this season. The Stuttgart native has scored four goals in five matches for Germany so far.
