FC Bayern were held to a 1-1 draw by SC Freiburg on Matchday 27, losing the lead in the table to Borussia Dortmund. "In the first half we didn't act as we had planned. In the second half we didn't make use of the wealth of chances we had. Those are the decisive points," Niko Kovac said after the match.
Reaction to Freiburg v Bayern
Niko Kovac: "We must blame ourselves for two things. In the first half we didn't act as we had planned. In the second half we didn't make use of the wealth of chances we had. Those are the decisive points. 1-1 at half-time is okay. But in the second half we should have exploited the wealth of chances, if so we'd have comfortably won the match."
Leon Goretzka: "It's obvious what we have to blame ourselves for. We were asleep in the first five minutes. It isn't easy after conceding a goal here. We even levelled the scores relatively early but missed so many chances that we wouldn't have deserved to win."
Christian Streich (SC Freiburg coach): "At the end of the day we were a bit lucky. But we absolutely pushed to our limits, to the maximum possible. If we had conceded a second goal, which Bayern surely would have deserved, I wouldn't have been extremely disappointed either. More just wasn't possible. We were lucky towards the end, but the team deserved it too."
