Two days ahead of the DFB Cup semi-final at Werder Bremen, FC Bayern can again call on Mats Hummels and James Rodriguez. The two record champions players took part in full training on Easter Monday and are available for the Wednesday night match at the Weserstadion. as coach Niko Kovac reported after the training session. Hummels missed the Bundesliga game with a hamstring problem and James due to a groin injury.
That means Hummels can start in central defence in place of Niklas Süle alongside Jérôme Boateng. The scorer of the winning goal at the weekend was shown the red card in the quarter-final against second division FC Heidenheim and is therefore suspended for the match at Bremen.
David Alaba completed an individual session at the performance centre on Monday but he should be available for the Bremen game. In addition to Süle, Kovac will have to manage without goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (torn muscle) and Arjen Robben. The latter trained on his own in a neighbouring pitch on Monday. "He's feeling better and sounds much more optimistic," reported Kovac who is hoping for an early return by the Dutchman.
