Niko Kovac did not have his full squad available on Friday ahead of the Bundesliga clash at FC Nürnberg. Two days ahead of the Bavarian derby on Sunday (18.00 CET) the 47-year-old had to make do without seven players at the training session – however that was not a cause for concern the Bayern coach.
"We did different training today. Some were in the gym where they completed an individual session. I worked outside with the rest of them," explained Kovac who does not have any additional injury worries after the DFB Cup game at Bremen ("Everybody's fit so far"). With Manuel Neuer and Franck Ribéry, who were ruled out of the Wednesday night game through injury, the coach has seen progress: "Franck is doing better but he's still not 100 per cent. And Manu is on the road to recovery." In addition to those two, David Alaba, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski completed individual sessions in the gym after the tough cup battle in Bremen. That also applied to Corentin Tolisso who was given a break from full training following his cruciate injury last year. "We took him out again today. Everything's okay with the knee. But it's a long process," said Kovac.
The Bayern pros have a final pre-match training session at Säbener Straße on Saturday afternoon before heading off on the team bus to the game at Nürnberg.
