The training session had finished, but Thiago hadn't had enough. He had good reason to get home quickly on Thursday with it being his 28th birthday, but when he has the ball at his feet, the Spaniard forgets pretty much everything else.

As he hit the ball across the pitch with Kingsley Coman, Thiago showed off his unbelievable touch. Coman pinged a long volley which Thiago controlled, juggled three times and then volleyed back to exactly where it came from. He'd already demonstrated his technique during the session when he brought down a curling shot under pressure and then, in his next movement, played it forward into the path of a teammate.

The birthday boy was in good form and is eagerly anticipating this weekend's match against Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he'll be looking to help Bayern maintain their position at the top of the Bundesliga table. There's no question of taking the foot off the gas, particularly not against Fortuna. "We have a bit of making up to do," commented Thiago, referring to the 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture. The midfielder missed that game due to injury, but now he's fit and his link-up play with Coman appears to be working well.
