FC Bayern lifted the DFB Cup three weeks ago and now the first round ties for next season’s competition have been drawn. Energie Cottbus are the opponents for the record champions in the cup opener. That was the outcome of the draw on Saturday night at the German Football Museum in Dortmund with the former Germany women's international Nia Künzer drawing the teams.
The two sides have played each other twelve times but never before in the DFB Cup. The records show Bayern are clearly in front with ten wins to date. Cottbus, who were relegated from the third division to the Regional League North-East last term, won the other two games.
The DFB Cup first round ties will be played between 9 and 12 August, one week before the new Bundesliga season kicks off.
