Poland and their captain Robert Lewandowski continued their march towards Euro 2020 on Monday evening. The Poles extended their lead over second-placed Israel to five points with a 4-0 victory in the top-of-the-table clash in Group G, maintaining their perfect record after four games. Krzysztof Piatek gave the hosts the lead in Warsaw in the 35th minute before quick-fire goals from Lewandowski (56' pen) and Kamil Grosicki (58') made sure of the three points. Damian Kadzior added a fourth late on.
In the same group, Austria boosted their qualification hopes courtesy of a 4-1 victory away to North Macedonia, which moved them up to third place (six points). The visitors, without the injured David Alaba, fell behind when Frankfurt's Martin Hinteregger put the ball in his own net (18') but Hertha BSC's Valentino Lazaro (39'), ex-Bremen striker Marko Arnautovic (62' pen, 82') and Leipzig's Konrad Laimer (86') ensured they left with three points.
