The building work starts now. The foundation stone of the new FC Bayern Football School in Taiuyan was laid down at the ceremony on Wednesday. Walter Mennekes, second vice president of FC Bayern München eV, and Rouven Kasper, Managing Director of FC Bayern München in China, represented the German record champions in the capital of the Chinese province Shanxi and they made the first cut of earth along with Luo Qingyu, party secretary in the city of Taiyuan.
The new football school is part of the partnership with the province of Shanxi and the China Sports Futurity agency that was announced on 6 September last year. The focus here is on the development of football in Taiyuan with its population of 4.4 million and the whole region of Shanxi will also benefit from the infrastructure and expertise of the youth development work.
The FC Bayern Football School in Taiyuan is being built on Lake Jingyang and will accommodate 3,300 school students in 12 year groups from primary to high school level with 500 members of staff. The aim of the institution is the sustainable transfer of knowledge, building of infrastructure and intercultural exchange. Football coaching and education are to be combined at the FC Bayern Football School. Following the laying of the foundation stone, the first camps were announced so that the FC Bayern youth coaches can start with looking after and training Chinese coaches and players before the official opening.
