Before their well-earned summer holidays, a few Bayern players must attend to international duty. For the international stars there is everything to play for in the European qualifiers and continental championships. fcbayern.com gives an overview of who is still playing before the summer break.
The German national team captain Manuel Neuer and four other Munich players want to build on their victory over the Netherlands in the next two qualifying matches. Six points are available from the two games against Belarus (8 June) and Estonia (11 June) to move one step closer to Euro 2020.
Coman want to prove himself
Meanwhile Kingsley Coman is hoping to make a comeback for France after a long absence for injury. After missing out on recent international appearances last-minute, he now has the chance to represent his country in a friendly against Bolivia in Nantes (2 June) and in the two qualifying matches in Turkey (8 June) and Andorra (11 June).
In qualifying group G, Robert Lewandowski and Poland have been marching on strongly with two wins from two matches. The winning run is likely to continue with a game in northern Macedonia (7 June) and one against Israel (10 June). David Alaba’s Austria hope to gain some points in the same group and are vying for victories over Slovenia (7 June) and Northern Macedonia (10 June).
CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa America
After the double with FC Bayern, Alphonso Davies is competing for another title this summer with Canada. At the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the North American side will play against Martinique (16 June), Mexico (20 June) and Cuba (24 June). The top two teams will qualify for the quarter-finals and will have the chance to play in the Chicago final on 8 July.
The same goes for James Rodríguez, who will face Colombia in two friendlies against Panama (4 June) and Peru (9 June) before the coveted Copa America tournament. The Bayern forward will be in the group stage with Argentina (16 June), Qatar (19 June) and Paraguay (23 June). The big goal is of course the final on 7 July at the legendary Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.
