A huge honour for Sven Ulreich. On Saturday the FC Bayern goalkeeper was chosen for the German national team for the upcoming international games. It is the first appointment to the national team for the 30-year-old, who has already appeared in the junior ranks. "Sven deserves this call-up. When he was needed this season, he was there and he showed top performances at Bayern. That's a great quality," said national goalkeeping coach Andreas Köpke speaking to dfb.de.
Ulreich played for Bayern nine times in the Bundesliga and three times in the DFB Cup this season. He was an excellent replacement for the long-injured Manuel Neuer in the Munich net. With Neuer and Ulreich, FCB currently possess two of the three national team goalkeepers.
