Real Madrid have beaten Fenerbahçe 4-3 (HT: 2-2) in the small final of the 2019 Audi Cup, securing third place in the pre-season tournament. In an entertaining game with a multitude of chances on both sides, the Turkish side were able to keep the game open for a long time, but the Royals ended the match as the better side.
Real had to contend with a setback right from the start when Garry Rodrigues fired the Istanbul side into the lead after just six minutes. Thanks to a brace from Karim Benzema in the 12th and 27th minutes, the Spaniards were able to turn the game around, before a deflected shot from Nabil Dirar seven minutes later ensured it was all-square going into the break.
Eight minutes after the restart, Benzema put the Spanish record champions back in front with his third goal, before Tufan was able to equalise in the 59th minute with an artistic effort from a good 30 metres out. Real's Nacho was the quickest to react and he restored the earlier lead just three minutes later. Mariano increased the gap to two goals with a 79th minute strike, the final score was 5-3 and Fenerbahçe had to settle for fourth place in the 2019 Audi Cup.
