50 teenagers from 22 different countries, six days, a unique adventure: youngsters from around the world came to Munich on Thursday to take part in the Allianz Explorer Camp - Football Edition. The players aged 14 to 16 have been invited to Munich by FC Bayern partners Allianz. They will experience the club up close, training under Bayern youth coaches.
The youngsters will not only complete a number of training sessions at the Säbener Strasse but also enjoy a wide range of activities off the pitch. Pro surfer Valeska Schneider and Syrian swimmer Yusra Mardini, who competed for the refugee team in the 2016 Summer Olympics, will share insights with the teenagers.
Besides, Dan Raven-Ellison (National Geographic Explorer) and Felix Finkbeiner, founder of the Plant for the Planet initiative, will give talks. Other exciting activities include a visit to the Allianz Arena and the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt on Saturday, a meet and greet with a Bayern pro at the training facility and a sightseeing tour through Munich on Monday.
A football tournament at the Säbener Strasse will round off the extensive programme before the teenagers return home on Tuesday afternoon.
This year marks the 11th edition of the camp, previously known as Allianz Junior Football Camp. It is part of the global Allianz Explorer Camp initiative that aims to bring together football fans from around the world and promote intercultural exchange.
