FC Dallas have emerged victorious from a top international field in the FC Bayern Adidas Campus Cup. The American team beat the FC Bayern U15s 6-5 on penalties in the final on Sunday afternoon. In spite of being 2-0 up at half-time, the German record champions youth team gave away the chance of winning. The Bayern goals in normal time were scored by Ricardo Wagner and captain Arijon Ibrahimovic. The FCB partner club from Texas won the title in this inaugural U15 tournament.
Congratulations to FC Dallas! We thank all teams and adidas as such a great tournament would not have been possible without them. I'm already very much looking forward to next year and hope to be able to welcome all teams back to Munich. We've had a fantastic tournament over the three days with some interesting games played at a very high level," said Campus director Jochen Sauer. "Of course, it's a blow losing the final like this. We gave the game away in the final minutes. Congratulations to FC Dallas on their win. I think we've had a very good tournament overall," said FCB U15 coach Peter Wenninger following the final.
The Bayern U15 team earned a deserved 3-0 victory over Benfica in the semi-final on Sunday morning. Benedikt Wimmer, Wagner and Ibrahimovic scored the goals for FC Bayern. Dallas won the other semi-final with a 3-1 win against Dynamo Zagreb.
The top scorer in the FC Bayern adidas Campus Cup was the FCB player Ibrahimovic with seven goals. The player of the tournament was Christopher Sanchez of FC Dallas and the best goalkeeper was Tim Pfeiffer of FC Basel.
