The FC Bayern squad were in visibly cheerful spirits and highly motivated as they began preparations for their upcoming matches in glorious autumn weather on Tuesday morning. Following convincing wins over Red Star Belgrade and 1. FC Köln over the past week, Niko Kovač's charges had earned their two days off. Now their attention turns to another busy week ahead: on Saturday FCB visit SC Paderborn on Matchday 6 of the Bundesliga before heading to Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League next Tuesday.
With batteries charged, it was a lively 90-minute open session at Säbener Straße on Tuesday. Given the busy upcoming schedule, Kovač would've been particularly glad to see an almost full training pitch, with only Leon Goretzka (thigh surgery) and Lucas Hernández (individual training) absent. There was good news on David Alaba, too, as the Austrian worked intensively on the adjacent pitch following his muscle strain and had the ball at his feet. For the rest of the group, the session started with some sprints followed by a passing drill and various match situation drills. Afterwards, the Bayern stars carried out autograph and selfie duties for the many fans in attendance.
