On Monday morning FC Bayern set off for the Champions League match away to Olympiacos. Unfortunately, Niklas Süle was unable to join his team-mates after sustaining a torn cruciate in the match against Augsburg. "It's a bitter setback for us, I'm sorry for him. But we have the players to compensate for his absence," sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić commented at Munich airport.
FC Bayern aim to build on their last few performances in Europe's elite club competition rather than in the Bundesliga: "We've turned in very good performances in the Champions League so far, and we want to pick up where we left off in the competition."
Bayern have gone unbeaten in ten Champions League matches on the road, and a victory on Tuesday night would mean a new club record. The Bavarians will also be buoyed by their recent record against Greek sides. They have won all of their last five matches against teams from Greece, scoring 17 goals and conceding none. The German record champions are scheduled to arrive in Greece at around 2 pm local time.
