FC Bayern were dominant in the all-Bavaria derby but ultimately shared the spoils with Augsburg after one goal conceded in the first minute and another in injury time. "We got off to a bad start. We mustn't let that happen, we had addressed it before the match," an annoyed Niko Kovač commented: "We've thrown away two points. It's overshadowed a good performance."
Reaction to Augsburg v Bayern
Niko Kovač: "We got off to a bad start. We mustn't let that happen, we had addressed it before the match. We must be alert from the start and not only after five minutes. Then we were in control, we had the ball and big chances but failed to take them. If so, we mustn't concede another goal. Two shots, two goals conceded, I'm annoyed. But Niklas Süle's injury is even worse. It isn't looking good. We must see what's happened, we're hoping for the best."
Serge Gnabry: "We put the last match against Hoffenheim behind us. We were fresh and turned in a superb performance, we were always in control. Towards the end we had two gilt-edged chances, it would have been over if we had taken them. But we've thrown it away. We dominated possession and had many chances but were a little too sloppy, and then it happened at the back. That's football."
Martin Schmidt (FC Augsburg coach): "We wanted to show we're a unit today, and that's what we did. And we had a good keeper, Koubek was my Man of the Match in the second half. At the end of they day a match we almost lost was rewarded with a point, mainly because of the passion we displayed today."
Alfred Finnbogason (FC Augsburg forward): "It's always special to play against Bayern and even more special to score the equaliser against them. We always knew we were only one goal down and that we had a chance. We've earned it."
