Germany U20 international Christian Früchtl has signed a contract extension with FC Bayern that will keep the 19-year-old goalkeeper at the record champions for an extra two years until 30 June 2022.
“Christian is a true Bavarian boy and has grown up here in the club. We’re very pleased to have him. He’s shown continuous development and we want to continue that together. We’re certain he’s got a great career in front of him,” said sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić .
Früchtl, who had joined Bayern at the age of 14 from SpVgg GW Deggendorf, added: “It’s a great feeling that the best club in Germany has put its faith in me. I want to continue making a name for myself this season in the third division and push for the first team. When you train with world-class players on a daily basis, you also mature as a person. That’s always been something special for me.”
Früchtl has been the first-choice goalkeeper for the reserves since the 2017/18 season. This term he has played 13 games for the team in the third division. The 1.93m-tall goalkeeper trains with the first team and has already featured a number of times in senior matchday squads.
