"For FC Bayern, this award means recognition and encouragement to continue our support and, indeed, extend it." With those words, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge accepted the award from the North Rhine Westphalia solidarity fund foundation on behalf of FC Bayern on Saturday evening. "Support for children and adults is more important than any title race," said the FCB chairman. The German record champions received the award for "outstanding commitment to the community."
Borussia Dortmund president Reinhard Rauball, who presented the award speech at the event in Castrop-Rauxel, said: "The German record champions also show their commitment to the community when playing in the Champions League." The club received the award for their commitment made by the charitable body FC Bayern Hilfe eV.
