Robert Lewandowski intercepted a Dan-Axel Zagadou pass. The ball bounced toward the onrushing Roman Bürki, but Lewandowski beat him to the ball, elegantly lobbing the Dortmund keeper. Chased by Zagadou, the striker soon shone with another brilliant idea, meeting the ball with a sideways scissor-kick, acrobatically volleying the ball into the net via the inside of the post to double the advantage.
FC Bayern took a giant stride towards their 29th championship title on Matchday 28 last season. Munich beat chief rivals Borussia Dortmund 5-0 at the Allianz Arena, claiming top spot in the table. Top striker Lewandowski once again proved his nose for goal, bagging a brace.
The 31-year-old is very prolific in meetings with his ex-club from the Ruhr valley, especially in Bundesliga home matches. In his first match in Munich against Borussia he levelled the scores in Bayern's 2-1 victory. Lewandowski bagged braces in the two following home matches against Borussia, a 5-1 victory in 2015/16 and a 4-1 win in 2016/17. He went on to score a hat-trick in the 6-0 thrashing at the Allianz Arena in 2017/18.
Bayern fans have reason to hope that our number 9 will have them on their feet in Saturday's Bundesliga top clash.
