The Iranian played a crucial part in FC Bayern's 2-1 win away to Borussia Dortmund on 17 December 2005. The result meant Bayern extended their lead in the table to six points on Matchday 17. The Bavarians went on to win the championship title.
On Saturday evening the Reds take on the Black and Yellows once again. FC Bayern entertain Dortmund in the Bundesliga top clash. Karimi has reason to celebrate on the eve of the match at the Allianz Arena, turning 41 on Friday.

Ali Karimi had joined FC Bayern from Al-Ahli Dubai Club at the beginning of the 2005/06 season. The forward made 42 appearances in his two years at Bayern, scoring four goals and setting up another four. Karimi left FC Bayern on 3 July 2007, joining Qatar Sports Club. He played at FC Schalke for half a year in the 2010/11 season. Karimi hung up his boots in the summer of 2014.
