Herbert Hainer elected new FC Bayern München AG supervisory board chairman

Munich, Monday 9 December 2019: At today’s meeting of the FC Bayern München AG supervisory board, FC Bayern München eV president Herbert Hainer (65) was unanimously elected the new chairman of the supervisory board by the members present. The previous chairman of the supervisory board, Uli Hoeneß, relinquished his post after not standing for re-election as president of FC Bayern München eV in November. Uli Hoeneß recommended Herbert Hainer as his successor for both posts.

Uli Hoeneß was voted deputy chairman of the supervisory board by the members of the board. Other deputies are Dr. Herbert Diess (chairman of the board of Volkswagen AG) and Dr. Werner Zedelius (Senior Advisor Allianz SE)    

Herbert Hainer said: "For me, being elected by my colleagues as chairman of the FC Bayern München AG supervisory board is both an honour and a responsibility. I’d like to say a big thank you for the confidence shown in me. In addition, I'm extremely happy that Uli Hoeneß remains a member of the supervisory board as deputy chairman and that he will continue to support us with his knowledge and advice."

Herbert Hainer was CEO and chairman of the executive board of adidas AG for 15 years (2001 to 2016). Since the founding of FC Bayern München AG in 2002, Herbert Hainer has been a member of the supervisory board as deputy chairman. He took over as chairman from 14 March 2014 to 8 September 2014 when Uli Hoeneß temporarily resigned from the post.
