Alphonso Davies raised his arms and the FC Bayern fans at Borussia Park were about to celebrate, but the ball did not cross the line completely.
Goal-line technology denies Bayern
26 minutes had been played in the top clash away to Borussia Mönchengladbach when Joshua Kimmich fired from 18 yards, the ball squirming under Yann Sommer. It trundled towards the line but Sommer clawed it back in the very last moment. The goal-line technology soon proved the ball had not completely crossed the line. Bayern failed to reward themselves for their first-half dominance, and Kimmich has yet to score his second goal in the current Bundesliga campaign.
The moment was exemplary of the first half in Mönchengladbach. Bayern were dominant but failed to reward themselves. An early goal would surely have boosted the German record champions.
