FC Bayern to compete in the KONAMI eFootball.Pro League

FC Bayern, in cooperation with its partner KONAMI, is to compete for the first time in Esports, in the field of football simulation. The German record champions are entering the eFootball.Pro League with their own professional team. Following the league’s debut season last year, the second edition begins on 14 December.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "KONAMI, our partner for football simulation games, today launches the KONAMI eFootball.Pro League. FC Bayern, in cooperation with our partners Telekom, Allianz and Siemens, will compete in this league with our own team. We’re looking forward to the battles against other top European teams such as Barcelona, Manchester United or Juventus. We made a conscious decision to focus on football simulation games in the Esports world", the FC Bayern CEO commented.

FC Bayern have signed Austria's Matthias Luttenberger as coach and Spanish trio Miguel Mestre Oltra, Alejandro Alguacil Segura and Jose Carlos Sánchez Guillén as players for their newly-formed team. In addition to the German record champions, many other top European clubs are to chase the virtual title in the eFootball.Pro League: the big-name field includes Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus and Schalke 04. The total of 10 participating teams play each other in Barcelona between December 2019 and April 2020 in a best-of-two mode. After the subsequent knockout stage, the grand final will take place in the summer of 2020.
