FC Bayern beat Werder Bremen 6-1 in the 107th edition of the north-south clash, laying down a marker after two consecutive Bundesliga defeats. Lead by an outstanding Philippe Coutinho, Bayern left the visitors no chance, deservedly winning by the margin. The players and officials were pleased after the match. "We played very, very well," commented sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić.
Reaction to Bayern v Bremen
Hasan Salihamidžić: "Bremen played very well at the beginning, we have to admit that. The two goals before half-time were crucial. We were in control in the second half and played very, very well. We saw what Coutinho's able to do. I'm incredibly glad for him. In the next few matches we'll try to pick up where we left off today."
Hansi Flick: "You saw the team's mentality when we turned the tide before half-time."
Robert Lewandowski: "We struggled a bit with Bremen's defensive line-up in the first half. But we did much better in the second half, we had more possession. Our positional play without the ball was better too, and we imposed our play."
David Alaba: "We're playing at a very high risk at the moment, we're very high up the field. We showed character as a team and turned the tide in the first half."
Davy Klaassen (Werder Bremen): "We played well in the first half. Yes, they had a few chances, Bayern are a strong team. But we had two, three good chances too. More would have been possible with a bit more luck, but we didn't do a lot in the second half."
