German football commemorates the victims of the holocaust on Bundesliga Matchdays 19 and 20. The German Football League (DFL) supports the commemoration day, a "!Nie wieder" ("!Never again") initiative. The Bundesliga commemorates the victims every year around 27 January, the date on which the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp was liberated. This year marks the 75-year anniversary of the liberation. FC Bayern participated in the campaign around the home match against FC Schalke, demonstrating that racism and discrimination have no place in our society and in football.
The German record champions' fans staged a special choreography on the south stand.
In addition, the teams set an example before kick-off, posing with the hashtag #WeRemember, an initiative by the World Jewish Congress (WJC). "We Remember" is a call for all people to pose with the lettering and post a photo on social media.
