FC Bayern started the second half of the season with a fully deserved 4-0 win at Hertha BSC on Sunday, and there was more good news for coach Hansi Flick on Monday as Lucas Hernández stepped up his recovery and took full part in first-team training. The French World Cup winner joined other players who didn't start in Berlin, including Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich and compatriot Corentin Tolisso, in the open session at Säbener Straße.
Flick had prepared a session that involved sprinting and match situation drills. The Bayern players looked in good spirits and at the same time focussed on building against Schalke this weekend. For Hernández, who had already completed parts of team training in Doha, it was another important step towards a comeback from his ankle operation.
