Lewandowski continues comeback

Robert Lewandowski was back running on the treadmill on Tuesday as he makes good progress in his recovery from a groin operation. The Poland international didn’t travel with the rest of the squad to the training camp in Qatar so he could work on his comeback in the performance centre at Säbener Straße. The run sees the striker take a step towards that goal. Coach Hansi Flick had already stated that he’s confident Lewandowski will be fit for the first game of 2020 at Hertha Berlin.

“Robert Lewandowski is a top professional. He’s preparing himself now and has no problems. We’re optimistic but have to wait and see how things progress,” the coach said in Doha. The Bundesliga’s top scorer had to undergo an operation on his groin following the final game of the year against Wolfsburg.
