Determination is etched on Javi Martínez's face. The Spaniard fought his way through wind and snow on Tuesday morning during his individual session at Säbener Strasse - while his team mates enjoyed the day off. Martínez does not want to lose any more time in his recovery and aims to return to the Bayern first team setup as soon as possible. The 31-year-old was not to be held back, in spite of the less than accommodating weather.
Amidst a snowstorm, the defender/midfielder did elastic resistance training, completed some sprints, and did some close ball control, dribbling in between cones. Martínez suffered a muscular injury in his thigh on the last day of the first half of the season against VfL Wolfsburg in December. Since then he has been completing a private training programme - and nothing can stop him.
Yesterday Martinez's colleagues braved the conditions to put in a strong shift in training despite more stormy weather. 👇
