Lewandowski with goal to seal the title

He's struck again: Munich's top goalscorer, Robert Lewandowski, fired FC Bayern to victory against Werder Bremen and with it, to title glory! His goal in the 43rd minute was enough for Bayern to claim victory on their way to a 30th Bundesliga title. In doing so, he himself also celebrated a new personal record.

Vital players

It was already clear in the run-up to the match that the return of Lewandowski and Thomas Müller on Matchday 32 would be a decisive factor. "It does us good to have them back. The break has also done both of them good," said Hansi Flick before the game, looking forward to the return of the duo, who were suspended for the previous match.

Typical Lewandowski

Lewandowski controlled the chipped ball with his chest and finished it perfectly

Shortly before the end of the first half, it was Lewandowski who gave Bayern cause for celebration in a difficult game. Jérôme Boateng lobbed the ball from midway into the Bremen half to the edge of the penalty area, where the striker controlled the ball with his chest and, after a half-spin, fired straight toward goal. His 31st goal of the season was also a personal record, and in addition to this, Lewandowski is just the fifth player in Bundesliga history to score more than 30 goals in a single season, after Lothar Emmerich, Gerd Müller, Dieter Müller and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

More magic

Key factor in success: Now in his sixth season with FCB, Lewandowski has been able to celebrate winning the league every year.

Lewandowski almost scored goal number 32, when in the 55th minute the Pole skilfully put the ball into the net with his heel – but unfortunately, Müller was offside before the ball was passed and the goal did not count. Nonetheless, Bayern's hitman demonstrated his incredible ability against Bremen and after 90 minutes of fierce battle, he was able to celebrate his sixth league title with the Bavarians.
