The FC Bayern Esports team face a big day on 31 July, as Jose Sanchez, Miguel Mestre and Alex Alguacil take on Juventus in the semi-finals of the eFootball.pro Cup. The tie will be played over two legs, with the winner going on to the final, which is also on Friday. The competition’s other semi-final sees Manchester United face Barcelona. You can follow all the games on Konami’s official channels from 2pm CEST.
Attacking opponents
FCB’s opponents from Italy are an impressive attacking team. “They’re just incredibly tough to defend against, which we why attack is our best form of defence,” said head coach Matthias Luttenberger. There is one player in particular on the Juve team that the Munich gamers have in their sights, according to Sanchez: “Ettore Giannuzzi is one of the best players in the history of PES.” The multiple-time PES world champion is seen as the complete player, being solid in defence and capable of scoring plenty of goals.
Three clean sheets
Of course, the Bayern gamers know about their own strengths, too. After all, they came top of their difficult group ahead of league campions Monaco, whose players came into the tournament as favourites. As previously shown in the eFootball.pro League, the Munich team demonstrated their excellence in defence, not conceding a single goal in the first three games of the group stage.
Defeat a timely wake-up call
Luttenberger’s team suffered just one loss, which came in the final game against Nantes. “The defeat against Nantes shouldn’t have happened, but it was a good wake-up call,” said the 32-year-old coach. Mestre also knows that it won’t be easy: “We have to focus until the very end. We also need to think about aerial duels against Juventus, because they’re very strong there.”
Crucial final day
With the final taking place afterwards, it’s also worth keeping an eye on the other semi-final. “We’ve done our work and are ready for every scenario. But our focus right now is fully on the Juventus match,” Sanchez declared. Our gamers are certainly ready for the knockout stage and are looking forward to your support. Tune in and help the squad on the way to their first title.
It’s a full Friday of football, with the Bayern players taking to the real pitch in a friendly against Marseille in the Audi Football Summit from 4pm CEST, after the final of the eFootball.pro Cup:
