What was the main reason behind your decision to join FC Bayern?
"The talks we had from the beginning were very good. The whole plan they proposed convinced me to sign. FC Bayern is of course a very large club and has big goals. And the goals also fit for me, which is why this was the only choice for me."

You’re already familiar with many of the players. How does that feel?
"I'm looking forward to everyone. We played together in the youth national teams, I played together with Leon [Goretzka] at Schalke. They're all great guys. In general they said that there are good guys in the whole team. I think we have a very good mix here, too. There are lots of experienced players, lots of young players. Everyone is very hungry. So, I'm looking forward to it all and can't wait to train with the team."

What was Hansi Flick’s role in persuading you to join?
"I know Hansi from the Germany U21 team. We had a very good relationship there. And, since I already knew him, as soon as we'd spoken to each other, I knew what to expect. I think we've all seen and everyone knows how the team has changed. I think he handled it very well, the way he turned the mood around, all in a positive way. And that's why I think this is going to be a very good time."

What are your personal goals?
"For me, the goals are actually quite clearly to win as many trophies as possible, and the Champions League is of course right at the top. I haven't won it yet and I think everyone dreams of the Champions League. And that's why it is of course a big goal."
