Let's get to work! Miroslav Klose is back at Säbener Straße and completed his first training session in his new role as assistant coach of the pros on Tuesday morning. "I couldn't wait to get back out onto the pitch as quickly as possible," said the 42-year-old in an interview with fcbayern.com (the full interview will be available to watch on video this afternoon).
The 2014 World Cup winner was right in the middle of the action: After warming up with some stabilisation exercises, the programme focused on patterns of play for Klose's new charges. He accompanied them actively and with full commitment, motivating them, giving them instructions and tips, and spurring the players on to top performances. "I told the team that I'm a very open, communicative coach, and that I want to be able to approach the players," the former Germany striker explained.

Extra shift with Lewandowski
Klose also did not shy away from overtime on his first day: after the end of the session, he returned with fitness guru Prof. Dr. Holger Broich and fellow striker Robert Lewandowski to practise a number of finishes. In the subsequent face-to-face discussion with the most successful World Cup goalscorer (16) in history, the exceptional Polish striker was also able to take home one or two important tips. "I think my focus will be a bit on the strikers. But we'll determine that soon together with Hansi Flick," said Klose.
FCB's new assistant coach was a player at the German record champions from 2007 to 2011, and most recently coached FCB's U17 team for two years. Since June, he has also been taking part in an A-license coaching course at the German FA (DFB) Academy. "It is incredibly exciting and I'm very happy to be part of it. We are a good team and everyone can learn from one another," said Klose.
