Winner of Allianz Esports Cup revealed

There were four qualifying tournaments to determine the eight participants for the final stages of the eFootball PES 2020 fan tournament. In the end, it was Bengt Alexander Hansmann who came out on top to be crowned the first winner of the Allianz Esports Cup. After knocking out Semih Öztürk, one of the favourites, in the semi-finals with a 3-2 win in extra time, Hansmann claimed the title with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ahmet El-Lahib in the final.

Nerves held

Hansmann boasts over 10 years’ experience as a PES player, although he’s only been involved in tournaments for a short time. “I’m absolutely delighted and can’t quite believe that I did it in the end,” said Hansmann in an interview after the final. “In a finals tournament, you know from the outset that there won’t be any easy opponents, but even in the qualifiers there were some very tight games. I had one that went to extra time and even one that went to penalties,” described the winner.

FC Bayern’s esports professionals are on a well-earned summer break. After victory in the eFootball.Pro Cup, fcbayern.com caught up with Alex Alguacil to chat about the past season:
