Bayern to start season against Schalke

The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) has confirmed the fixture list for the 2020/21 Bundesliga season as Bayern look to defend their league title. The new season begins on the weekend of 18-21 September, with the champions hosting Schalke at the Allianz Arena. The first away game of the campaign sees Hansi Flick’s side take on Hoffenheim and their new coach, former FCB Reserves boss Sebastian Hoeneß, the following week.

Klassiker on Matchday 7

The first Klassiker of the season away at Borussia Dortmund comes on Matchday 7 (6-8 November), with the return fixture in Munich on 5-8 March 2021. Clashes with the two promoted sides, Arminia Bielefeld and VfB Stuttgart, will be on Matchday 4/21 (16-19 October/12-15 February) and Matchday 9/26 (27-30 November/19-21 March) respectively.

Short winter break

Following the match away at Bayer Leverkusen on 18-21 December, there will be a short winter break before resuming with Matchday 14 against Mainz on 2-4 January. As ever, games on the final two matchdays will be played simultaneously on Saturday at 3.30pm CEST. Those see Bayern visit Freiburg on 15 May 2021 for Matchday 33, before closing out the season at home to fellow Bavarians Augsburg at the Allianz Arena on 22 May.

The exact kick-off times for the remaining fixtures will be confirmed during the season, as these are dependent on teams competing in the Champions League and Europa League. The DFL will announce the times for the first few games in the coming weeks.
