Reaction to Lyon v Bayern
Hansi Flick: "We knew it would be a tough game. Lyon are an outstanding team, they fought. They turned in good performances against Manchester City and Juventus. We saw how difficult it is against a hard-running team with good tactics. They hurt us again and again, we were lucky to weather the early stages. Serge handed us the lead thanks to his individual quality. It boosted our confidence. We'll analyse the match. Our great strength is putting our opponents our pressure. We'll do that against Paris too."
Manuel Neuer: "We were aggressive, similar to Lyon. At the beginning we were a bit lucky not to fall behind. Then we showed our class and tried to put Lyon under pressure again and again. The goal came at the right time for us because we didn't get into the game at the start quite as well [as we'd hoped]. It was semi-final against great opponents. Lyon are snappy, they want to win battles. It was a real fight, especially in midfield. But 3-0 is a wonderful result. It's something special that we have achieved again today. You could see that we had to put everything into it. Now we're looking forward to the final against PSG. We've fought and worked for it for so long and we want to win this final."
Serge Gnabry: "Lyon put a lot of pressure on us and got behind our back line with their fast players. They also had some chances. We had a bit of luck at the beginning. Afterwards we got into the game well and led 2-0 at halftime. At the end Lewy made it 3-0. Lyon were very aggressive, they wanted to win. You can't always defend everything. We're usually very strong at the back, up front as well. We knew about the space behind their back five and tried to get in behind time and time again. That was the key to success, especially in the first half. We're desperate to win the treble, and we're going to give it our all on Sunday to win the final."
David Alaba: "We knew it wouldn't be easy. Lyon's mentality doesn't make it easy for their opponents, and they have high individual quality. We're very glad we've made it to the final. We took a risk, we pushed very high up the pitch. We were just more efficient, our first goal was crucial. Lyon had a few chances, but we didn't have doubts in any second and put up a fight, both physically and mentally."
Joshua Kimmich: "The opener was the key to victory. Lyon had two or three really good chances at the beginning. It was as expected: a difficult game. The 1-0 came out of nowhere a bit. From thereon in it went better and we made up for it. After a nervous start it was decent. Lyon were good, but they couldn't really put us under pressure. Just at the beginning we lost the ball a few too many times. Fortunately, they didn't take advantage of that. The bottom line is, it was deserved, but especially at the beginning it could have turned out differently. We are happy and proud that we are in the final. It wasn't so much of a celebration in the dressing room, but more that focus is on the final. That is what characterises us at the moment. We will regenerate tomorrow and then we'll go again."
