Bayern start pre-season with virtual training session

The treble winners are back! 16 days after their magnificent triumph in the Champions League final, FC Bayern resumed training on Tuesday. Due to last season being extended with the finals tournament of the Champions League in Lisbon, the Reds' preparation time for the new season is much shorter this year. In just 10 days' time, the Bavarians have their first competitive fixture with the Bundesliga opener against Schalke 04 at the Allianz Arena.

Following their well-deserved holiday, head coach Hansi Flick called his squad together for a virtual training session on Tuesday morning. It was very clear the players, led by captain Manuel Neuer, were very happy at getting together again, even if it was only virtually for the moment. During the session, the team worked up quite a sweat during some strengthening and stabilisation exercises.

First team training session on Friday

In addition to the virtual session, the players were also scheduled to take a a coronavirus test at Säbener Strasse on Tuesday. In the next two days, the record champions will continue with medicals and performance diagnostics before the first full training session scheduled for Friday.

FC Bayern will have to do without new signing Tanguy Nianzou for the time being:
