The German national team, including Leroy Sané and Niklas Süle, had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Switzerland in Basel on Sunday evening. The two Bayern players were both named in the starting line-up for the UEFA Nations League clash, with Sané taken off at half-time and Süle substituted off in the 62nd minute.
Sané had the first chance of the match in the seventh minute after a good run. A short while later, Ilkay Gündogan gave Germany the lead, but the Swiss equalised in the second half courtesy of Silvan Widmer. Die Mannschaft now sit in third place in the table with two points from their opening two games.
Thiago and Spain clear winners over Ukraine
Meanwhile, Bayern midfielder Thiago enjoyed a comfortable victory with Spain. Luis Enrique’s men beat Ukraine 4-0 in Madrid, with Thiago playing the full 90 minutes and putting in an impressive performance in the centre of midfield.
