FC Bayern's title hunt continues! One of the first people to congratulate the side after their narrow 2-1 win over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup final was Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "It was a wonderful feeling to celebrate this title win with our fans again," he said. "I would like to congratulate the team and the coaching staff, with Hansi Flick at the helm, on winning the Super Cup".
Barely four weeks after their historic triumph in the Champions League final, the German record champions also secured the UEFA Super Cup trophy thanks to a late header from "Mr Supercup" Javi Martínez (104') sealing a 2-1 win against Sevilla. "It felt good to have fans back in the stadium. I think it also worked well," head coach Hansi Flick said after the match.

Reaction to the Super Cup win
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "I would like to congratulate the team and the coaching staff, with Hansi Flick at the helm, on winning the Super Cup. The team deservedly won the title. We can be proud that we have now brought the so-called Quadruple home to Munich. It was a wonderful feeling to celebrate this trophy with our fans in person again. When I looked around the stadium after the game, I saw many happy Bayern fans. I would like to thank UEFA and its President Aleksander Ceferin for the professional organisation of this final. It was an important step back to a normal footballing culture, to emotional rollercoaster and atmosphere inside the stadium. I wish all our fans a safe journey home and would like to remind them once again of the opportunity to have a free coronavirus test at the Allianz Arena after their flight home".
Hansi Flick: "It felt good to have fans back in the stadium. I think it also worked well. I hope that stadiums will be full again soon, even if we do not know how long it will take for that to be. But it was a great moment for all of us with the atmosphere more or less restored. The team has an inspiring attitude, not only on the pitch but also in training. The way Lewandowski assisted the equaliser to make it 1-1 is an absolute joy. In the end the team got over the line. That certainly was a hurdle."
Manuel Neuer: "Sevilla are a good team, their coach prepared them well, they worked as a unit. It's not so easy to play against them. We deserved to win because we were always in control. We can be proud of our performance, we deserved the victory."
Thomas Müller: "Sevilla were tough opponents as expected, they're a well-oiled machine. They didn't have any golden chances but took the lead through the penalty, and we had to re-organise ourselves. It wasn't ideal, we didn't use the space so well, especially in the opening stages. We made our mark on the game in the second half. The icing on the cake was the goal by Javi Martínez, our Mr. Super Cup."
Javi Martínez: "I try to give it everything, 100 percent, whenever I wear the FC Bayern jersey, I showed that today. Doesn't matter if I play 10 minutes or 15, I always try to help the team, and today I helped with a goal. I'm pretty pleased, it's a dream come true. It was like in 2013, when I scored too, a beautiful evening."
Sevilla's Ivan Rakitic: "It was down to details today. We must congratulate Bayern. Such is football. At the end of the day, small details make the difference. We all saw today how important Manuel Neuer is. We had two superb chances to score a second. Then we conceded a corner, which led to Bayern's second goal. We can be proud of the team and of the way we fought against the best team in Europe. Now we must prepare for the league."
