Douglas Costa: A man for goals and the spectacular

Welcome back! Douglas Costa returns to FC Bayern after three years at Juventus. “Douglas will strengthen us on the flanks, which is important for our game,” said board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić. After the transfer was officially announced, many fans will definitely have had good memories of the time between 2015 and 2017 when the Brazilian previously wore the red shirt.

Spectacular style of play

In his youth, Costa played the technically demanding Futsal. Stepovers, nutmegs and other tricks have since been a permanent part of his repertoire.

The lightning-fast winger again and again excites supporters and teammates alike with his high-tempo dribbling and silky skills. He showed what he could do in his Bundesliga debut against Hamburger SV on Matchday 1 in 2015. On 69 minutes, the now 30-year-old picked up the ball on the right wing and took it to the byline. Costa then hit a perfect cross with the outside of his foot for Thomas Müller to nod the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0.

Four trophies, 77 games and 41 goal involvements

In two years at FCB, Costa was twice champion of Germany and also won the DFB Cup and the DFL Supercup.

He crowned his performance just before the end of the game. After a good move by Rafinha, Costa received the ball on the right side of the penalty area, played it forward and then hit an unstoppable shot into the top left corner to complete the scoring at 5-0. “It was brilliant here with this great atmosphere,” he raved after the game at the Allianz Arena. In 77 games, Costa had direct involvement in a whopping 41 goals. Now he wants to extend that impressive return.

In addition to Costa, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting also strengthens the Bayern attack:
